Upgrades

Here's a bit of what we've been up to!

Bronco Brown....I LOVE it! It's like pumpkin pie! Soooo much nicer than the random combination of the original greenish and pinkish taupe colour.

Master bedroom got Phantom Mist on the accent wall (velvety black or very deep chocolate brown) and Heavy Cream on the rest. Will look great with our red paintings and new chandelier with red crystal droplets.

Claudia wanted purple and Roman Purple she got! Grandma painted a little surprise in her closet!

New light fixtures....They had this wonderful collection at Canadian Tire and some were on sale (even better)....Not only do they look wonderful in our house but they were made just for me as the collection was named "Candice"...How could I resist!? So we bought the dining room chandelier, two semi-flush matching for the front entrance and hallway, and a pendant matching for the side entrance....too awesome! Sooo much nicer than the rusty dusty lights she had with the missing glass shades and barely screwed on bases!

Without Further Ado...

Our new home! Needs some love but we can do it!

Lovely side yard where Ike will build us a 2 car garage. We also need to dig up a ton of stupid bushes planted in the middle of the yard!

Small deck in the back currently only accessible by walking around the house. We plan on installing a patio door where the dining room window is.

More beer dad?! Small outdated kitchen also will receive a much needed upgrade this winter!

I love my new fridge...I didn't realize how much fun having ice & water in the door could be!
Dining room...That was the old fridge which wasn't keeping anything cold (no wonder she wanted ours)! Don't worry we already dragged it outside.
Who was the first idiot to install carpet on walls? What a dumb idea....Stairway to our basement...Charlie enjoying the coolness down there.

Living room...as you can see we already attacked some of the house and ripped out old carpeting and various closet doors.

Hallway to the bathroom and bedrooms AND linen closet!

Beautiful pink main bathroom...ugh...needs updating too!
Master bedroom...Lots of space! Already ripped out flooring and mom and I re-painted it(not shown in these pictures).

Master 2 piece bath with yet another linen closet. :)

Ginormous closet!

Claudia's future bedroom....Can you see the ugliness? One wall is pink...one is lavender...
And one is green....thank goodness my mom and I attacked her room first!

Spare bedroom where Claudia is currently sleeping until we put new flooring in her room!
More pictures to come later...Hope this satisfies some of you!

We're In!

We did it...We are in our new home! Friday evening Dad showed up with his big truck and before getting to work we headed out to Pizza Haven for a birthday dinner! Mmmm pizza! Then to work...The three of us (Ike, Dad, and I) loaded his truck as full as we could with all of our possessions. It's amazing how much you can get done in 3 hours. The next morning we started the day off right by going out for breakfast...and then back to the house to load up and organize the last remaing items like our mattresses, appliances, fridge & freezer food, and other misc. items that couldn't fit into Dad's truck. My mother-in-law and Dave & Char showed up somewhere around 11-1130 to help...thank goodness because by that time the other lady was just about ready to move in! We had so much stuff that we were forced to do some extra half ton loads in between the her moving in. We all unloaded the van and the half ton loads and then took a well deserved break....During which time, I made lunch...a lovely assortment of bbq'd hamburgers and hotdogs, beer, veggie platter, and cookies. Then back to work unloading the big truck...by this time Laura and my sister-in-law Becky had shown up (they must've smelled the food). 30 minutes and we were done!
My mom showed up in the evening and stayed the night. The next day she helped me paint Claudia's bedroom as well as the master bedroom. In between coats of paint she helped me put find and put away dishes and food into my freshly cleaned (thank you Ike's mom!) cupboards. Monday we finished up the last of the painting in those two bedrooms and cleaned closets so we could put away all of our linens! I LOVE closet space!!!! Dad helped Ike install my washer and dryer and put together Claudia's bed!
We're still living out of boxes but so far so good! I will post pictures tomorrow when I have more time!

Getting Closer!

Only one more weekend and then we move! Today we visited the lawyer's and signed a bunch of papers. He talked about the money disbursal and those numbers are enough to freak anyone out! But (deep breath) God will take care of us! (Smile) And just to add to those numbers we went to our local appliance store (Sawatzky's) and purchased a brand new fridge and dishwasher for our new home! I must add in the spirit of mennoniteville...they were on sale! On the 31st we will not only be moving but also picking up my new french door bottom mount freezer refrigerator with ice and water dispenser---oh yeah and dishwasher! Yeah I know I said I didn't think I'd like a french door fridge but a girl can change her mind! Soooo excited! Ugh now back to packing!

Sorry yet Again!

Grrr....Yes I know there were supposed to be pictures in yesterday's post! I am having major technical difficulties and have spent hours trying to fix the non existant problem! I will however give it one last shot later this evening and try a completely different method! Cross your fingers folks! Time for more packing!

BOXES

Sorry to all of my dear followers...I have been consumed by all the boxes in my house....Boxes, boxes, boxes...Mozzarella boxes, Romaine boxes, Head Lettuce boxes, Garlic bread boxes, Styrofoam boxes, Onion boxes, Potato boxes, Powdered milk boxes, Pepper boxes, Cake boxes...boxes, boxes, boxes! If we weren't in such a hurry to pack I think that I would build myself a fort! Can somebody tell me how it is possible for a house to be so messy when you are actually cleaning up by packing everything so neatly into boxes?!
Unfortunately for me and those who are going to be helping us move...I am no Martha Stewart...No moving poster (sorry to disappoint Jacks)....no plan (ha this'll be fun)...and no fancy labels or lists...but I did buy coloured smiley face stickers! Each colour will signify a different room...despite the fact that EVERYTHING will be going into the basement with the exception of Claudia's room, the kitchen, and the piano due to renovations.
Another unfortunate is that I don't have pictures of the house we will be moving into, as the lady never listed her house, so there is no listing and we forgot to take pictures when we looked at her house that one time! Seeing as we are 'trading' houses I won't have photos until moving day.
On the bright side...I can show you what I hope my kitchen will look like after we renovate it and I can try to upload the colours that I have chosen to paint the interior! Fun Fun!
I think (think meaning that we may change our minds) that we have decided on a warm honey-ish coloured hardwood with darker grain, the kitchen cabinets will probably be something close to an Espresso colour, Ike wants to build a two car garage, we will replace the tile in the main bathroom, ensuite bathroom, and side entrance area, windows and doors and siding choices are going to be a surprise...I can't give everything away right away!

Soooo for paint...the kitchen will be that tiny swatch off kilter at the bottom and it's called Silk Sails...nice bright creamy colour! The living room and hallway will be Bronco Brown with Winter Wheat trim shown in the picture of the room on the right. The main bath will be some form of cream but the niche where the tub is will be that glorious Cedar Chest 'red' shown on the left. Claudia has yet to decide on one colour and Ike and I can't seem to agree on the spare bedroom...lol. We already have our paint for the master bedroom as I had full intentions of painting here but never got to it....One wall will be something close to Espresso and the rest will be creamy. I LOVE re-decorating!
